Publications and Standards useful for RVs.

Like any other topic, when it comes to RVs, there are many misconceptions and myths surrounding the construction and manufacturing of RVs. The only true way to cut through the chaff is to review the publications that are used for construction of the RV. This page lists those publications (although the list might not be complete). These publications are applicable to RVs built in the US, and some cases Canada - especially when constructed for the US market. Other countries may have their own publications.

UL (Underwriter's Laboratory) standards. These standards may be useful, however they are fairly expensive and not likely something you would consider purchasing. However, they are being listed for completeness. UL standards are typically test standards, however an adjunct to testing is meeting a minimum standard.

UL1449 Standard for Surge Protective Devices
UL234 Standard for Low Voltage Lighting Fixtures for Use in Recreational Vehicles
UL817 Standard for Cord Sets and Power-Supply Cords
