Panel Templates.
Microsoft Edge Note:
If you are using Microsoft Edge, be aware that it might change the front panel template extension from ".fpd" to ".txt" when you attempt to download it. As a result, you may see a bunch of text characters on screen.
To download the template, save (or save as) to your computer as a .txt file. You will then have to rename the extension of the ".txt" file to ".fpd" (for example rename "template.txt" to "template.fpd").
There is probably a way to make this not happen, but I don't use Microsoft Edge; Firefox and Chrome both work.
If you cannot get the above procedure to work, you will have to call Microsoft as I don't provide support for Microsoft products. Or, you could always use a browser that does work.
This page catalogs the various templates that were used with RV-Project.Com projects. All templates were created with the Front Panel Express "Front Panel Designer", which can be downloaded free of charge from the Front Panel Express website by clicking on the button to the right.
At the bottom of this page is a video on how to download the designer, install on your PC or MAC, load the templates you find here, modify them if you need to, and order them. I highly encourage watching the video prior to using the templates.
Note:
While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the dimensions in these panels, mistakes can be made. By downloading these templates, you are acknowledging that you are using them as is, and you will double-check all dimensions to ensure their accuracy.
Hint, print the panels out using the FrontPanelExpress Designer and compare them to your needs (they should print actual size).
PRIOR TO ORDERING A PANEL, PLEASE CONIRM IT'S DIMENSIONS AND THICKNESS ARE CORRECT FOR YOUR INTENDED USE.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU ORDER A PANEL FROM A TEMPLATE YOU DOWNLOAD HERE THAT YOU HAVE NOT CHECKED IN THIS MANNER.
THESE PANELS CAN BE EXPENSIVE, SO PLEASE HEED THIS ADVICE.
For your convenience, I have listed the approximate cost I paid for each panel at the time it was made. The costs can obviously vary over time.
Costs are in US Dollars, for a quantity of 1, and you typically do not receive a price break until you have a quantity of 10 or more.
Also, if the order totals more than $50, shipping within the USA is typically free, so if you have a large project - order all of your panels at once.
Reducing costs. Costs for the panel are determined by the panel thickness, finish, size, and every hole, slot, or engraving operation that is done on the panel. Since these panels can be rather expensive, I use the following methods to reduce costs.
Lettering. I always specify no ink infill, unless the panel is nautral aluminum. I order mostly black panels (the least expensive color), and have found that the exposed aluminum from the letter engraving process provides an attractive panel, so there is no reason to add color to the lettering.
Countersinking. Whenever possible, if the project calls for countersink holes, I design the panel with plain holes and do the countersinking myself. However, for small holes where it might be difficult to countersink them, I will add countersinking to the panel.
Tapped holes. Like countersinking, tapped holes can be expensive. So for any threads #4-40 and larger, I do my own tapping and simply order the holes of the proper drill for that tap. Since it can be difficult to tap smaller than #4, I order those tapped.
Tool Changes. Each time the NC equipment at the factory changes a cutting tool, you are charged a bit of money. I therefore select lettering fonts and sizes, as well as other objects to minimize tool changes. If you make a modification to the panel, you should realize that you could incur additional costs. for example, should you want to change the lettering font on the engraving, you might incur an additional $1-2 for a tool change.
I try to balance these cost-cutting measures with the difficulty level of re-working the panel after you receive it. If however, you have no ability or desire to do minor machining on your panel, you can always modify the panel to add those items prior to ordering it.
Ford E450 Panel Templates
These templates were sized using a 2011 Ford E-450 dash. However, they should fit 2009 and later E-series vans. Before committing to any expenses, an easy way to determine fit is to print out the templates real-size, and overlay them on your dash.

This is a template for the upper storage and coin-holder area for vehicles not equipped with Upfitter switches. It provides for a 12V Accessory outlet for general purpose use, or for use with the RViBrake2 remote. The center hole can be used for a USB charging jack or a second Accessory Outlet. The third hole can be used for a Digital Voltmeter or a third Accessory Outlet. The switch can be used to turn the panel on/off or to read Vehicle/House battery voltage.

Grand Design 29RS Control Panel Skeleton
Panel CPU-1
This is the control panel template as used in the Control Panel Upgrade project. Note that to keep costs down, I tapped the panel with 4-40 threads after receiving it (for the 6 sub-panels). Also, I did not drill the 6 holes for the center OEM control panel until I received this panel as the hole dimensions were not consistent (the OEM panel is made of plastic).
However, depending on your situation, you may want to order your panel with the 4-40 holes already tapped, and the holes for the OEM panel already machined, whatever they may be.
Also, note the slot in the lower-right corner of the OEM panel - it is a clearance for the Battery Monitor module which you may or may not need.
Approximate Cost: $115.51
